Julia’s plans for a summer road trip became that bit more exciting when her T6 trendline Kombi arrived at the workshop. With a 6 week trip planned and a potential 5000 miles on the road, Julia needed a conversion that would be able to accommodate her and her 2 children throughout the whole trip. A Vanworx custom built Chilli Conversion matched her requirements. With a full width bed to carry 3 passengers in the rear, as per a factory Kombi, but with the added flexibility to switch to a lightweight 4/5 person camper in seconds.
“We began our journey in the Swiss Alps, heading through the French Alps to the Italian lakes. After spending time swimming in Maggiorre, we needed to head towards Slovenia. We took the Glossglockner high Alpine road and then the San Bernardino Pass and Stelvio Pass which were all incredible mountain passes and great driving experiences. Slovenia led us to the Julien Alps where we river rafted down the River Soca. We also spent a day white water rafting in Montenegro UNESCO heritage site in the Tara River Canyon. Then via Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, back to France, surfing in Lacanau before heading home. 5000 miles in 6 weeks, no worries! The van performed brilliantly and it was exactly what we needed!”
“We relied on the leisure battery for the full 6 weeks, plugging in our portable stove. The set up worked perfectly and we became self sufficient living out of our van. I don’t have a forever house but I have a forever van!”
Julia’s van was fitted with custom made red panels to line the van. The van was complete with Makassa wood furnishings and black Altro flooring. Julia’s Chilli conversion was also fitted with additional extras which included, mood lighting, Webasto heater, Waeco underbed fridge, tailgate bike rack, 18″ sport line alloy wheels, leather upholstery, multirail and sliding table system.
